The Portable Building Company

Manchester's Portable Building Company offered a wide range of speedily-erected buildings, including ‘cyclists’ cottages’ designed specifically for the needs of touring bike riders. Several of these cottages had already been put up in the countryside of the industrial north by summer 1899. This pretty 'residence' in France is at the other end of the size scale, and as well as the tiled roof, I assume the chimney stacks must be brick. Perhaps it's a holiday home, and it's curious that a Manchester firm was chosen to supply the house.
